On Saturday afternoon, in a crucial game for the Cardinals who were reeling with four losses in a row, Freese came through again with a huge afternoon.
Freese was three for five on the afternoon with three RBI's and helped lead the Cardinals in a much needed come-from-behind charge to beat the Washington Nationals on Saturday.
Freese got the scoring going for the Cardinals with a two run homer to cut the Nationals lead in half in the second inning and also singled in the game winning run in the ninth.
Freese tends to have the flair for the dramatic at the plate in pressure situations and said afterwards that Saturday's game with the Washington Nationals felt like a playoff game, the type of game where he obviously feels comfortable.
"It felt like a playoff game," said Freese. "The atmosphere, the team we are playing against. They have 80 wins for a reason. We are battling. You are going to trade punches when you got two teams going at it. Today was fun."
Freese came into Saturday's game struggling, hitting just .213 in the month of August. But now it is September, the time of year when Freese shines the brightest.
Cardinals can only hope that Freese catches fire once again this fall and once again strikes magic this postseason.
Saturday's performance was a step in that direction.
