The Rams have brought back quarterback Kellen Clemens. The Rams now have three quarterbacks on the active roster, which provides head coach Jeff Fisher with added protection in case Bradford goes down.
Clemens was cut by the Rams when the team had to trim the roster to 53 players, mostly because of glut of injuries on the defensive line.
Too many, including Clemens himself, it felt like it would be just a matter of time before the Rams called him back.
“I had a strong hunch,” Clemens said. “I’ll leave it at that. At no point did I think that I wasn’t a part of the Rams organization, at least in my mind. I’m happy to be back in the flow of practicing and game planning and hopefully we can get our first win this week."
It was a bit of a surprise when the Rams initially cut Clemens, considering his long history with Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
Clemens made three starts for the Rams in 2011, throwing for 546 yards and two touchdowns while posting a 73.8 quarterback rating.
