Shelby Miller pitches well in relief

In the St. Louis Cardinals Game Six loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday night, there were very few positives for Cardinals fans to point to as the two teams prepare for what should be an epic Game Seven.

One positive that came out of the 6-1 loss came from the Cardinals bullpen.

Cardinals phenom prospect Shelby Miller came out of the Cardinals bullpen to relieve ace Chris Carpenter and pitched well in the spotlight.

Sure it was a relatively low pressure situation for the 22 year old with the Cardinals down by four runs, but it still was a very impressive outing in a playoff setting.  Cardinals fans have to be getting excited about what they have in this right-hander.

Miller pitched two innings of relief on Sunday night, throwing 25 of his 37 pitches for strikes.  Miller threw first pitch strikes to five of the seven hitters he faced and allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out two.

Miller likely will not have any impact on the pending Game Seven on Monday night, but his latest performance should have Cardinals fans salivating at the possibility of having the kid ready to step up and fill a role on the Cardinals pitching staff in 2013.
