Video: Mike Matheny feels Yadier Molina should be NL MVP

The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants are both blessed to possess two high quality, dual threat catchers behind the plate to not only lead their pitching staffs, but their offenses too.

Giants catcher Buster Posey will likely take home the National League MVP award this season, no matter the outcome of the National League Championship Series.   Just one year removed from missing nearly an entire year with a broken leg, Posey had an unbelievable season in leading the Giants this far into the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina stepped out of the shadow of former Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols this season as the clear on-field general of the Cardinals team.

Known for his defensive skills and his four Gold Glove awards, Molina put up stellar offensive numbers this year too, hitting .315 with 22 home runs and 76 RBI's on the year.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny made his case earlier this week as to why he feels Yadier Molina should win the MVP award.
