Vladimir Tarasenko suffers concussion in Russia

By on 9:23 AM

One of the many worries fans have with NHL players finding work overseas is the risk of injury.  Nobody wants to see one of their team's best players get hurt playing for another team while the NHL tries to figure out their labor issues.

Unfortunately for St. Louis Blues fans, the injury bug hit one of their top prospects.

Blues forward and rookie sensation Vladimir Tarasenko suffered a concussion on Saturday while playing for SKA St. Petersburg.

It is believed that Tarasenko will be out a week while his head clears, which is encouraging news as it does not sound like it is a serious head injury.  But anytime a young player is suffering concussions, you have to be worried.

Just remember how long Blues forward David Perron was out with his concussion injury.  These are serious injuries and hopefully Tarasenko can fully recover without any other incidents in the near future.

Tarasenko was playing well overseas though, tallying points in ten consecutive games before the head injury.
