NFL Free Agency: St. Louis Rams offer safety Louis Delmas a contract

In an attempt to plug the gaping hole the St. Louis Rams have at the safety position, the team was busy chatting with free agent safety Louis Delmas on Wednesday and according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, offered the 25 year old out of Western Michigan a contract.

Hearing that Delmas has left town sounds like bad news for a team looking to replace Quintin Mikell after cutting the veteran earlier this week in order to make room under the salary cap to pursue Jared Cook, Jake Long and Delmas.

Cook has since signed and the Rams are still negotiating with Long, but for now, it looks like Delmas will talk with the 49ers before making a decision on whether he wants to join his former defensive back coach Tim Walton in St. Louis.
