That is exactly how it played out on Thursday night as the Rams traded up to No. 8 overall and swapped first round picks with the Buffalo Bills to select the explosive and talented Austin.
The Rams made the trade in a desperate move to give former first round pick Sam Bradford an explosive weapon and Austin is exactly that.
Austin is mighty fast, running a 4.34 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, but is very small at just 5'8" tall and weighs 174 pounds.
While Austin is small, his quickness and speed should play well on the turf at the Edward Jones Dome.
The Rams will be able to use Austin in a number of ways. His primary role figures to be as slot receiver, but he can also lineup on the outside and will likely be included in end-around plays, sweeps, screen plays and much more.
Grabbing Austin was not cheap

Austin gives the Rams the play-maker the coveted and now the Rams offense should be fully armed to compete in the NFC West.
